Cruel and unusual punishment or an assistive breathing device? You be the judge. Right now it's pretty much just the former, as Faith has spent the last two night with this bi-pap mask strapped to her face. As for the latter, it has done little to support her breathing. She dropped (dessatted) all night long (about 50 times).
Her ENT does not think she will be able to breathe at night without positive pressure. We don't think we can live at night with positive pressure. She was flipping out so much last night I thought she was seizing.
That's all to report. Still in the PICU- still waiting/wondering what's best for Faith (and for her family too) ;)

It's crazy to think this is the alternative. We are praying. I'm so sorry it's played out like this; this isn't how it was suppose to be... but isn't that always the case?

Praying, as always. We love you guys.
I think the fact that she is fighting this mask is a good sign, It's the patients who don't -I worry about. My patients later don't remember the bad Bipap part in the ICU later on- maybe she won't too...Too hard to watch your child struggle...She is tough and will have periods of rest- her body will cave in ... eventually from exhaustion. You too. This is the agony and suffering time- she has been here before and will make it through again, I just feel it. Have hope and trust God is with her in her suffering too. He is with you and Bryan and knows what you are feeling. I pray you feel His peace. Love, Aunt Libby
